Indoor Thermal Environment & Air Quality of Urban

The purpose of this survey is to look into the actual conditions of the residential indoor environment in urban areas in China for discussing thermal comfort, the possibility of space energy conservation and air quality.
The apartment houses under investigation were located in the urban areas of Harbin, Beijing, Xi’an , Shanghai, Hong Kong Changsha and Chongqing. The questionnaire survey revealed the life style within residences of winter and summer seasons, the types of air-conditioners used and so on. The measurement showed that indoor temperature and humidity in Harbin, Beijing and Shanghai in winter are remained a relatively stable level so that a better condition is achieved. As for IAQ, it was found that the concentrations of benzen, toluene and m,p-xylene were relatively high.
